Symbols and Abbreviations for Editing Scientific Texts

Scientists spend considerable time on editing manuscripts of their peers and students. To make this task a little bit more efficient, I propose a set of symbols and abbreviations that can be used as shorthands to identify problematic parts in such manuscripts. The shorthands cover frequently recurring issues with respect to grammar, style, and flow. This document serves as a legend to both the editor and the author of manuscripts to which the symbols and abbreviations are applied.
